Snake Davis Rocks!

Snake Davis Rocks! 2225 1042 Admin

Snake Davis is one of the most in-demand saxophone players in the world, widely known for his solos on tracks such as Lisa Stansfield’s “Change”, M-People’s “Search For A Hero” and “Moving On Up”, Klingande’s ‘Jubel’ and Take That’s “A Million Love Songs”. He has played and recorded with artists ranging from James Brown to Tina Turner to Paul McCartney, The Eurythmics to Amy Winehouse.

As a session player to the stars he plays arenas and stadiums, recent clients include Olly Murs and Shania Twain, later this year he’ll tour Japan playing arenas, but his greatest love is to play intimate venues as himself, his own music choice with his favourite musicians.

Playing the saxophone family as well as flutes, whistles and the ancient Japanese wind instrument, the Shakuhachi, and vocals, it is his total passion and commitment to every note that draws people in.

Snake approaches jazz with a soulful lyrical style. He studied jazz at Leeds college of music with further study with some of the greats in New York.

a soloist of immaculate taste and lyricism
The Guardian

Ben Martin has vast experience of playing weddings, corporate events, parties, cruises, funerals and more. He even played an event for Sir Paul McCartney, who was so impressed he jumped on stage and performed a few songs with him. Ben has played many festivals including North Sea, Brecon, Rotterdam and London EFG and world famous jazz clubs such as Ronnie Scott’s in Soho and Smalls in New York.

He’s very much in demand as both a session player and live performer, enjoying regular slots at Nottingham’s renowned Peggy’s Skylight as well as venues up and down the length of Blighty.

Bens’ weapons of choice are his beautiful 1950’s Selmer tenor saxophone and 1930’s Selmer alto saxophone. His repertoire covers classic swinging jazz from The Great American Songbook with tunes by George Gershwin, Cole Porter, Irving Berlin and Hoagy Carmichael, made famous by Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, Nat King Cole and many more. He also loves to throw in classic pop, soul, disco, funk and rock from the 1950s to the present day.

Ben is joined by Stray’s house band for this date – Dan Johnson on guitar, Si Potts on drums and Mat Short on electric bass.
