Frank Birkbeck Trio

Frank Birkbeck (guitar) is joined by Andy Tytherleigh (bass) and Jon Richmond (drums)

With over a 20 years of full-time music-making under his belt, Frank is known for his multi-instrumental expertise and popularity. His eclectic taste in music has seen him involved in a wide range of bands and projects. His trio, the ‘Frank Birkbeck Group’, is one of the most in-demand jazz groups in East Midlands.

Frank has performed at seemingly every jazz club and theatre going, which has included Ronnie Scott’s, Matt and Phreds, Troy bar, the Wardrobe & Peggies Skylight. This has lead him recently to perform in Europe.

Recently he has been selling out theatres, and is due to record his debut album under his own name. He has worked and gigged with national names such as Hugh Pascal, Alan Barnes, Snake Davis and Luca Boscagin.

Andy Tytherleigh is a professional upright & electric bass player. He’s been a full time musician for over 20 years and has recorded over 30 albums during that time ranging from jazz to folk to electronica. He’s worked with a vast array of artists including Grammy Nominated Zoe Johnston.

A stalwart of the UK jazz scene, Andy Tytherleigh is called upon by a massive range of bands, to provide the low end, with backgrounds in Classical, Jazz, House Music, Orchestration and Playwriting .

Jon Richmond makes up the trio on drums. Originally from Canada, Jon has been teaching drums in Lincolnshire for many years. Over and above gigging, Jon gets to work with many young musicians as part of his role in Lincolnshire Music Service. We first met Jon when he played with Wendy Kirkland and Pat Sprakes in Organik Trio. His styles mix hip hop, jazz and funk and he’s a really exciting musician to watch.
