Robert Otwinowski [Newark]
Robert Otwinowski – musican and composer. Born in Poland but now he lives in UK permanently…
He improved his musical skills under the guidance of the best guitar players in Poland such as Marek Napiorkowski, Artur Lesicki, Jarek Smietana. In 1998 he was awarded 2nd place out of 160 bands by one of the most important music magazine in Poland “Guitar & Bas” on ‘’Festival Music and Show ‘’ in JAZZ/BLUES category.
Between 2000 and 2001 he was the finalist of Master Competition of Jazz Guitar players ‘’Guitar City’’ in Warsaw twice.
In February 2019, Robert’s band recorded a new album of original compositions. “This time I had the honor and pleasure to work with excellent British musicians, Graeme Taylor (piano), Andy Crowdy (double bass) and Simon Price (drums)” says Otwinowksi.
Stray’s co-founder and bassist met Robert at a fundraising gig, where they both shared the same stage in a large band put together by pianist Maff Potts. Mat was so impressed by Robert and knew he just had to share him with Stray’s live music fans.
Robert will be playing jazz standards as well as a few originals, accompanied by Si Potts (drums), Dan Johnson (guitar) and Mat Short (bass).
FRIDAY NIGHT JAZZ SESSIONS AT STRAY’S ARE SPONSORED BY PRIMEPRINT…
HOW IT WORKS:
Doors open at 7:30pm and food is available to order from this time, until 9:00pm. Seats are unallocated, so get in early if you have specific requirements – please note, we always give priority to elderly, single and customers with disabilities.
We want you to have a great night with us! However, one man’s boogie is another man’s dirge, so we operate a minimal talking policy during the performances. We ask you to consider your neighbours in this respect.
Lastly, from the staff at Stray’s and the house band, we look forward to seeing you and sharing some fabulous jazz with you…
