Jay Stebb [Newark] - 10/6/22

Jay Stebb is a jazz saxophonist with a drive for expression and creativity…

Heavily influenced by the music of John Coltrane from the 50’s and 60’s and the contemporary jazz saxophonist Jerry Bergonzi, Jay brings together the old and the new, with modern jazz techniques blended with a Post-Bop style.

Playing with a number of different groups, including funk, soul and ska bands, as well as leading his own jazz ensembles, Jay is in high demand for his musicality, tone and ability.

He currently runs regular jazz improvisation workshops and jam sessions with Major Seven Ltd., a business he founded to inspire creativity and expression.

You can find more information, including books, resources and media at https://www.jaystebb.co.uk/

This date is the first time Stray’s house band P.R.S. and Jay will have met, so expect genuine improvisation and an exciting gig!

FRIDAY NIGHT JAZZ SESSIONS AT STRAY’S ARE SPONSORED BY PRIMEPRINT…

HOW IT WORKS:

Doors open at 7:30pm and food is available to order from this time, until 9:00pm. Seats are unallocated, so get in early if you have specific requirements – please note, we always give priority to elderly, single and customers with disabilities.

We want you to have a great night with us! However, one man’s boogie is another man’s dirge, so we operate a minimal talking policy during the performances. We ask you to consider your neighbours in this respect.

We offer incentives to buy tickets on the night, to forthcoming gigs and recommend buying these in the interval, to save you waiting at the end of the night.

Lastly, from the staff at Stray’s and the house band, we look forward to seeing you and sharing some fabulous jazz with you…
