Gary Reader 4

Gary Reader fronts Moja, an East Midlands based 5 piece band performing their own compositions, drawing inspiration from the great Impulse jazz label in its late 1960s heyday, but very much rooted in contemporary UK jazz.

Gary has worked with a vast array of musicians and is heavily influenced by Alice Coltrane and Pharoah Sanders, but with a more contemporary interpretation.

He has toured extensively, lived in France and played in different musical styles before returning home to start this project, releasing the acclaimed album “Moja” in 2011.

PRS drummer Si Potts introduced us to Gary after having played on the recently released Moja album entitled Emerald Thunder. Joining Gary is the aforementioned Si Potts (drums), Dan Johnson (guitar) and Mat Short (bass guitar). This outing Gary’s first appearance at The Ossington, so hold onto your hats!
