Gary Reader - Stamford 11/2/22 - SOLD OUT!
Gary Reader fronts Moja, an East Midlands based 5 piece band performing outheir own compositions, drawing inspiration from the great Impulse jazz label in its late 1960s heyday, but very much rooted in contemporary UK jazz.
Gary has worked with a vast array of musicians and is heavily influenced by Alice Coltrane and Pharoah Sanders, but with a more contemporary interpretation.
He has toured extensively, lived in France and played in different musical styles before returning home to start this project, releasing the acclaimed album “Moja” in 2011.
“This is absolutely stunning – it could very well be a Blue Note classic album from the golden days…
This is how good it sounds. SUPERB!
A million thanks for the music
A bientot” Laurent Garnier
PRS drummer Si Potts introduced us to Gary after having played on the recently released Moja album entitled Emerald Thunder.
Since then, Gary has played several gigs with PRS and this date, will show the cumulative results of those previous dates together. “I’ve been enjoying the gigs and developing an understanding with the trio…” said Gary, when confirming dates with PRS for 2022 – expect much, from this gig!
FRIDAY NIGHT JAZZ SESSIONS AT STRAY’S ARE SPONSORED BY PRIMEPRINT…
HOW IT WORKS:
Doors open at 7:30pm and food is available to order from this time, until 9:00pm. Seats are unallocated, so get in early if you have specific requirements – please note, we always give priority to elderly, single and customers with disabilities.
We want you to have a great night with us! However, one man’s boogie is another man’s dirge, so we operate a minimal talking policy during the performances. We ask you to consider your neighbours in this respect.
We offer incentives to buy tickets on the night, to forthcoming gigs and recommend buying these in the interval, to save you waiting at the end of the night.
Lastly, from the staff at Stray’s and the house band, we look forward to seeing you and sharing some fabulous jazz with you…
